This scheme is currently on hold. A big thank you to all the 550 volunteers who participated helping 100 organisations. We have kept the site accessible, just in case it might be useful again and as everyone at Ellwood Atfield is proud to have tried to help, back when everything seemed so bleak.

Here we will, acknowledge some of the organisations who have asked for volunteers, and share kind words of encouragement and feedback.

Kind Words

“The team from Ellwood Atfield have done a fantastic job turning their focus onto helping charities during the C-19 crisis with the CommsVolunteers platform. Georgia took time to understand our needs and priority areas and matched these to the most suitable individuals. A range of committed and experienced volunteers were matched to our communications and marketing needs and their support has been invaluable. I highly recommend the CommsVolunteers platform.”

The Wildlife Trust for Birmingham and the Black Country

“Kate Addison has been a fantastic asset to the Neurological Alliance. Her expertise and time has been invaluable in ensuring our engagement and communication with members and the wider world is hitting the mark during these unprecedented times. Kate has already developed some extremely valuable analysis on reach and engagement of our social channels and website. We simply would not have been able to do this without her, and it has already improved how we approach our digital communications and engagement. We’ve found the scheme itself to be hugely beneficial, and it was so easy to use. Thank you so much.”

Neurological Alliance

“We’ve been hugely impressed by the service provided by CommsVolunteers, through which we have been connected with two highly skillful communications professionals who are supporting a number of activities across the charity”

Anxiety UK

“Charities likes Papworth Trust have been working really hard during this pandemic to provide vital services and support our customers, who are often some of the most vulnerable people in society. Communications has been crucial throughout and having access to a pool of expert public affairs and communications professionals who can help and support us has been invaluable. Thank you to CommsVolunteers for having the foresight to set up such a vital scheme.”

Papworth Trust

“Stephanie has stepped in to provide some invaluable media and comms support to Grandparents Plus which has meant that we have been able to quickly launch Kinship Response our COVID19 support package for kinship carers. Thank you CommsVolunteers!”

Granparents Plus

“I am the fundraiser for The Garwood Foundation and I am tasked with doing some communications in addition to my day job. Now that things have and continue to change, we had to adapt our communications quickly. CommsVolunteers introduced us to Victoria Holloway and she has been great in understanding what we really needed and delivering impactful comms support. Thank you very much for all the help.”

The Garwood Foundation

“CommsVolunteers connected us with Emily Ward who quickly drew up a social media plan for us. She has been really helpful, particularly considering I have zero knowledge in this field, and I only use Facebook as and when! We are incredibly grateful for the support.”

World Heartbeat Music Academy

“We help anyone in the UK facing a personal crisis to find help fast. In response to COVID-19, and with expert help from David at DNAsix, we have been able to design a new Ambassador team focusing on Outreach activities. This Outreach team will help those struggling to find help online by suggesting helpful services and resources from mypickle.org. Thank you David and CommsVolunteers!”

MyPickle.org

“Rob Comba has been helping us out for a few hours each weekend – which is really appreciated and he’s a great asset!! We’re grateful to both Rob and CommsVolunteers for the support.”

Communities 1st

“We have had a couple of conversations now with Manpreet and she has given some great advice. She is putting together a plan to support our comms over the next month and will work with us on a longer term strategy to take us into next year. Manpreet has been a fantastic contact for us, giving us some top level thinking and guidance at a time when we need it most. Many thanks to CommsVolunteers for your support with this.”

NSEAD

“I couldn’t be more grateful to Ellwood Atfield for your amazing initiative to help organisations like ours with communications and public affairs. I appointed several volunteers that you sent our way to perform duties ranging from public affairs to media comms, social media and production of marketing materials. Their support has been invaluable to a voluntary organisation like ours. The volunteers are happy to be involved in the project that is making a tangible difference to the lives of vulnerable people during Covid-19 crisis, and our mutually beneficial work is all thanks to you.”

UK Community Network

“The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on everyone of us and for communications professionals this scheme is a contribution to the national effort. I’m really grateful to all who volunteer, helping NHS facilities across the country. Please do think about joining the scheme.”

NHS England

“This is amazing. So grateful to you for coming back to me. I really appreciate you having played this interlocutor role for us.”

The Cares Family

“The response from your volunteers has been awesome! – helping with media articles, campaign development on health worker deaths and policy advice for a centre for work and health. Thank you”

Society of Occupational Medicine

“Thank you very much for matching us with volunteers. We are excited to be working with both the volunteers to develop a strong branding and comms message on our COVID19 campaign to ensure EU nationals have access to all relevant information in their own language.”

Europia

“One of your volunteers has agreed to help us out with press releases, and submissions to select committees. I am so grateful to him & to you all for putting us together. This kind of support is exactly what we need right now, when we’re at full capacity. I can already see his considerable expertise making a huge difference to our work & reach over the next few weeks. Thank you again.”

National Survivor User Network

“The ASA was recommended C19 Comms Volunteers initiative at the point of crisis: we recognised the importance of getting our message about the crisis facing advice services across to the public and to policy makers, and yet were facing organisational Covid19 challenges ourselves. Thanks to our Comms Volunteer, we have been able to craft a clear message and to get this out to the media and to politicians across the political spectrum. This has not only raised the issue of the challenges the sector faces, but also raised the profile of the ASA with key decision makers. We are in a much stronger place as result of this work and I recommend the service with great enthusiasm!”
